White folded bouffant caps offer the same hair-containment function as pleated caps in a flat-disc construction — easier to store, faster to dispense, and slightly more economical per cap. Available in three sizes including the extra-long 28" option for workers with very long hair, plus the standard 21" and 24" sizes. White is the universal default for any facility without HACCP color-coding requirements, and folded is the right choice for high-volume environments where dispenser refills happen multiple times per shift.

Folded vs Pleated — When to Choose Folded

The folded (flat-disc) construction has three practical advantages over pleated: (1) compact storage — folded caps stack flat, taking roughly 60% of the shelf space of equivalent pleated caps; (2) faster dispensing — flat caps pull out of dispensers more cleanly than pleated caps that can tangle; (3) slightly lower cost per cap due to simpler manufacturing. The trade-off: pleated caps grip the head more naturally and feel more comfortable for long shifts. For high-throughput environments (visitor programs, contractor entry, short-task workers), folded wins. For full-shift production work, pleated is often preferred.

The 28" Size

28" is the largest stock size we carry, designed for workers with very long hair, thick hair, or hair worn up in elaborate styles. Most facilities don't need 28" — but for facilities with workforces that include workers with religious head coverings, very long uncut hair, or specific cultural hair styles, the 28" option lets you fit those workers without forcing compromise. It's also useful for laboratory environments where workers might wear their cap over a hood or other head covering.

Why White Folded for Visitor Programs

Folded white caps are the standard choice for visitor entry stations and contractor check-ins. The flat-disc form factor takes up less space in entry-station dispensers, the white color signals "general visitor" without committing to a specific zone color, and the single-use design means no laundering or tracking is needed. For facilities with frequent visitor traffic (suppliers, auditors, contractors), running white folded at all entry points keeps the program simple.

Material and Compliance

Same non-woven polypropylene as the pleated versions — FDA / CFIA-recognized for hair containment in food contact environments. Single-use, non-sterile, latex-free. The folded vs pleated decision is about format and use case, not about material safety or food-contact compliance — both meet the same standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I order folded or pleated?
If you're running a high-volume dispensing environment (visitor entry, contractor check-in, short-task work), folded is faster and cheaper. If your team wears caps for full shifts, pleated is more comfortable. Most facilities run both: pleated for production workers, folded for visitors and short-duration tasks.
Why is 28" only available in white folded?
28" is a specialty size that serves a small but specific market: workers with very long hair or religious/cultural hair coverings. Most facilities don't need it. We stock it in white folded because the use cases where 28" matters (lab work with hooded gear, religious accommodation, very long hair) tend to be in environments where white is the default color. If you need 28" in a specific color, contact us for a custom quote.
What's the case count?
1,000 caps per case (100 caps per bag, 10 bags per case). Same case spec as the pleated white version — switching between formats doesn't require ordering changes.
Are folded caps compatible with my existing dispensers?
Most cap dispensers accept both folded and pleated formats — they're sized for the same bag dimensions. If you're using a specialty wall-mount dispenser, send us the brand and model and we'll confirm compatibility before shipping.
Do folded caps come off more easily during work?
No — the elastic and fit are the same as pleated. The fold/disc construction only affects how the cap stores and dispenses. Once it's on a worker's head, folded and pleated perform identically. Worker comfort during long shifts is the only meaningful difference, and pleated wins there for most workers.
What about colored folded caps?
We carry folded caps in blue (separately on the Blue Folded page) and a folded multicolour set in green/yellow/red on the Folded Multicolour page. Note: folded multicolour does NOT include orange — if you need orange, the pleated version is the only option.
