Nitrile is the default for most examination and food-service work — better tactile feel, better puncture resistance, longer wear. But vinyl wins in two specific scenarios. First: high-turnover food handling where staff change gloves every few minutes (deli counters, sample prep, buffet replenishment) — the cost-per-pair matters more than longevity. Second: customers with nitrile sensitivities or accelerator allergies, where vinyl's simpler chemistry is a better fit. For sustained wear or grip-critical work, see our TouchFlex Blue Nitrile instead.
Clear vinyl is the standard for general food handling, retail, and corporate environments. Blue vinyl exists for one specific reason: HACCP food-safety programs where colour-coded glove use by zone reduces cross-contamination risk. If a blue glove fragment ends up in product, it's instantly visible against the food. Many food-production facilities now require coloured gloves at minimum, often in HACCP-coded zones. If your operation hasn't moved to coloured gloves yet, blue vinyl is the entry point.
Vinyl is naturally less elastic than nitrile, so a thinner glove tends to tear at the knuckles during put-on. At 4.5 mil (5 g per glove), this line is on the heavier end of vinyl spec — substantial enough to last through a typical food-prep task without splitting, while still keeping the cost advantage that's the whole reason to choose vinyl in the first place.
All CLW vinyl is powder-free (no airborne residue contaminating product or surfaces) and latex-free (safe for users with latex allergies). Both colours meet food-contact safety standards for direct food handling. The smooth finish supports dexterity for portioning, plating, and packaging tasks.
